Video: Aaron Gwin does the impossible

The Gwizard does the impossible… again.

Mont-Saint-Anne in Quebec, Canada, has been on the World Cup Circuit for 27 years. The track has produced dozens of iconic moments, but we’re not sure anything can top this past weekend.

On race day, conditions were practically ideal, until the last 20 men were about to drop in. At that point, the clouds rolled in and a deluge of biblical proportions rendered the track virtually unrideable.

With the overall championship still up in the air, the world’s best threw down some of the most incredible riding we’ve ever seen. Yet even rain experts like Great Britain’s Danny Hart couldn’t take the hot seat. With the one man left on the hill, it looked like Dean Lucas was about to claim his first World Cup win (with a time set in the dry).

Of course, when that man is Aaron Gwin, you never know what to expect. He may be from the California desert, but he’s also won a World Cup race with no chain. His race run wasn’t perfect, but it was breathtaking. Gwin took risky inside lines, held on as the bike two wheeled drifted through massive ruts, and somehow made it down in one piece.

If you haven’t watched the full race, head over to Red Bull TV for a replay. We’d recommend watching a few of the early runs to see what the track looked like, then skip ahead to catch Jack Moir and the rest of the top 10 race.
