Maglock pedals use a revolutionary design that we’ve never seen before. Instead of using mechanical engagements to clip the rider’s shoe to the pedal, the Maglocks use strong, neodymium magnets embedded in the pedals to attract a big magnet that bolts to the bottom of an SPD-compatible shoe. The benefit is that when a rider with Maglock pedals is falling over, the natural twisting of the shoes will cause the feet to release automatically. The Maglock guys claim this will dramatically reduce the number of bloody gashes riders get from falling onto sharp rocks in a sideways track stand.
