BMX Freestyle added to 2020 Tokyo Olympics

BMX racing was first added to the Olympics in 2008.

Technically, Mtbr is a mountain bike website. It’s in the name, after all. BUT, we love BMX. It’s how most of us were introduced to riding. So we are incredibly happy to hear that the Olympic Committee is adding BMX Freestyle Park to the 2020 Tokyo Games.

If you’re not familiar with “Freestyle Park,” it’s basically riders sending it in an oversized skatepark. There’s a variety of ramps to choose from and several rails. Each rider gets two one minute runs, which are both counted. To get a better feel for the layout and event, catch the video below.
