The Jeff Lenosky Trail Boss Series is back, this time coming from his favorite place to ride in North America, North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest. The trip was part party at the Burning Can Festival put on by Oskar Blues where they donated 75 bikes to area kids. He also took another crack at Bennett Gap, a trail he’d ridden a few years back, loved, and decided to go back to film a Trail Boss Episode.
According to MTB Project, this easily shuttled trail is one of the fastest downhills around, and is best suited for the advanced rider or an advanced-intermediate rider looking to improve downhill technical skills. A gravel climb, great views, technical rock drops, and high speeds make this trail an awesome quick ride not far from the forest entrance. The trail runs a straight line along a ridge for most of it with several “hike-a-bike” sections due to combinations of excessive roots and steepness. Press play to see if Lenosky has to walk his bike.

A veteran rider with a 20-year professional career and three Observed Trials U.S. National Championships to his name, Lenosky uses his skills to ride the unrideable in Trail Boss. When you ride an entire trail you may feel like a Boss, but without the proper skills Mother Nature can quickly remind you who’s really in charge. This video series explores some of the most technical trials in North America and beyond, and provides tips so you can become a Trail Boss, too.
