More of the best new tools from Interbike 2016

Trade show season is done and we’ve gotten a look at loads of cool new tools. Here is part 2 of our expansive photo gallery for the home mechanic. You can see part 1 here.

The Milkit system consists of two valve cores and a special syringe. Retail for the kit is $ 56.

Milkit

Tubeless tires offer major advantages in terms of traction, puncture resistance, and rolling resistance, but it can be a pain to setup and maintain. MILKIT is a new solution that relies on a special Presta valve to make it easier to check sealant levels and eliminate the risk of a clogged valve core.

The Milkit Valve cores are available in several different lengths.

At the base of the Milkit valve is a rubber valve. When you want to add sealant or check the levels, you remove the valve core and push the syringe nozzle through. When you remove the nozzle, the valve shuts, which prevents sealant from getting into the core. For more info, visit milkit.bike. — Saris Mercanti

PUSH Industries got its start doing suspension tunes, then launched its highly acclaimed ELEVENSIX shock. Now the Colorado-based company has a new line of professional level suspension-oriented tools that range from fork sockets, to seal drivers, to assembly grease. They are also selling a variety of kits, such as a Trek FOX Float DRCV rear shock air volume tuning kit and a low friction mountain kit and fork seal kit. This bracket mounts under any standard water bottle cage and holds two Fix it Sticks.

Fix it Sticks

Last year at Interbike, Fix it Stick was showing a new prototype bracket that would allow you to store their modular T-handle tool under a water bottle cage. After months of testing, the bracket is now available on their website. It weighs 0.5 ounces and retails for very reasonable $ 6. For more info, visit store.fixitsticks.com. — SM

The IAF hardware is made from forged stainless steel that has been double chromed to ensure it doesn’t corrode.

Silca Tools

Multi-tools aren’t normally sexy, but Silca can make even ordinary items interesting. Their new Italian Army Knife (IAF for short) uses forged aluminum sides with an embedded magnet to hold a master link. The larger version of the tool features 13 tools and retails for $ 35. The smaller version has nine tools and retails for $ 25.

The T-ratchet ships in a beautiful waxed duck canvas carrying case.

Another Silca new tool on display at the show was the T-Ratchet. This little guy features an adjustable torque wrench that can adjusted between 2-8Nm. It can be configured as either a T-handle or offset ratchet and ships with a number of bits. They’re currently back ordered, but the new product should start shipping in January for $ 98.

You don’t need a BOA closure system for your saddle bag, but it looks damn cool.

In addition to tools, Silca also had several new bike storage systems on display. Their Premio Seat Roll is the first to use a BOA Closure system for mounting. According to Silca, this mechanism is lightweight, super durable, and provides better adjustability than traditional designs. The case itself is designed to hold two CO2 cartridges with a regulator, up to a 700x45c innertube, a multi-tool, and other small accessories. For more info, visit silca.cc. — SM

After a long wait, the Matchsticks are finally ready to ship.

Industry Nine Matchsticks

Last year, Industry Nine teased us with their Matchstick thru-axles, which double as a multi-tool. The handle has an integrated chain tool, spoke wrench, and can hold a bit. The various tools (and a spare master link) are all stored within the axle. They were hoping to launch earlier this year but held off so they could redesign the handle to ensure it would stay in place. At launch, the Matchsticks will only be available for boost and non-boost Fox and RockShox forks. A rear axle kit is also in development. The full kit retails for $ 160.
